Welcome to the 4th and FINAL episode of the MotherSHIFT series of The Becoming Podcast.
In this episode, I talk with Aly Dort: mama, artist, and self-care advocate.
Aly is a full time single parent, an illustrator, stationary designer, coffee lover and mental health advocate. She found her fire in utilizing her traumas and experience living with a disability to empower, educate and change the way we think about self-care and productivity.
Aly’s motherhood is woven through all the work she does, and I was so thrilled to have the opportunity to have this conversation with her. I feel like I’ve found a kindred spirit indeed, and I’m sure you will too!
In this episode, Aly and I talk about the massive life changes that happened when she had her son, Blue. She experienced a huge shift in her values, and in the constellation of family and friends that surrounded her. She talks honestly about what it’s like to be a single mama. We talk about the burst of creativity that so many mamas (including her!) experience as they traverse matrescence, the transition into motherhood, and we jam about what meaningful self-care looks like, especially in the early days of motherhood.
You can find out more about Aly and her company, Lavender & Sage, over here. And you can follow her on Instagram (she does some awesome stories, and her feed is just pretty!) over here.
I hope you enjoy this episode, and that you’ve enjoyed ALL the MotherSHIFT Edition episodes!
