Privacy Policy, Terms + Conditions
I’m sitting at my in-laws’ house listening to my husband’s mother read books to my children. It’s given me a few minutes to contemplate writing the words on This Page: The Words No One Ever Reads.
But I’m here writing them because I’m a feminist.
WTF, you might ask?
I’m here writing these words because I want you to fully understand the terms and conditions by which you have invited me into your inbox and subsequently, as is the way of our times, your life.Call it consent. Call it respect.
Here’s what I want you to know…
…about giving me your email address
I send out newsletters (unless I’m off in the woods or, like, not in the mood) and the occasional email to let you know about an upcoming offering (1:1 support, online program or retreat) that I think you might be interested in.
When you sign up to receive my newsletter, or to receive a free resource that I offer, I ask in exchange for your first name and email address, which you can voluntarily provide. This information is collected through Divi, a web design platform that I use to make my offerings look pretty, and it’s stored in MailChimp, the email marketing company through which I send you emails. Both of these organizations are GDPR compliant, and so your information is safe with them. MailChimp does automatically track and store information about whether or not you open, click on, or ignore emails sent from me to you. Unlike many online businesses, I actually do nothing with this information, and rarely, if ever, seek it out.
Though I offer loads of free resources and articles on my website, ultimately, this website is the flagship of my small business, and connecting with you in a heartfelt way – usually through my writing, because the gift of words is the gift I like to give most – is how I offer you the chance to learn more about what I do and to see if I can be of service to you. I am delighted that you’ve connected with what I have to offer, and you’re never under any obligation to buy anything from me. But because this is my business and my way of being in service to the world, I will occasionally send you emails offering you a chance to work with me, participate in one of my programs, or attend a retreat.
If you don’t want to receive these emails, then you can easily unsubscribe by clicking the “unsubscribe” button on one of these emails, or by replying to one of them and telling me you’re not interested in hearing from me anymore.
Also this: I never share your information with unrelated third parties.
…about cookies.
My site, and most others on the internet, collects cookies. I feel awkward writing that because I don’t even fully know what it means outside the *with milk* context – but as far as I can tell it’s like little tiny pieces of information that a website sends to your hard drive when you browse. Some cookies are “session cookies,” which expire when you close your browser, and some are “persistent cookies,” which stay on your computer until you delete them. It sounds super weird, and you can totally accept or decline said cookie collection using the browser settings on your computer, but my website, and others, might not work totally properly – or at all – for you when you do.
…about your demographic information
I might be the only person in the world of online business who’s not using Google Analytics, but I just thought I’d let you know. I prefer long walks on the beach and sweet milky cups of tea.
However, I sometimes use Facebook Ads – although I’m skeptical about how well they work. Facebook Ads collect information about you based on your IP address and your browsing behaviour. This allows me to send Facebook ads only to, like, pregnant yoga-loving hippies living on the Eastern Seaboard, as opposed to, you know, khaki-clad white dudes on a golf course in Arizona somewhere. You know?
…when you buy stuff from me
I collect payment through *old fashioned* safe, private email money transfer and through PayPal. Any payment information you provide through PayPal is stored with PayPal (and not with me), who is GDPR compliant. If you want to have your payment information deleted from PayPal, you can do that through them. Unfortunately, for tax purposes, your purchase history cannot be deleted through PayPal.
…when you’re moving on and/or streamlining your inbox
You reserve the right to be deleted from any and all of my mailing lists at any time. You can click “unsubscribe” on the email you’ve most recently received from me and boom – you’re outta there. I do hold several separate mailing lists, so if you’ve signed up for a free resource and my newsletter, you might be on more than one of my mailing lists. If you REALLY don’t want to hear from me again, the simplest thing might be to hit “reply” on one of my emails and ask to be removed from all forms of contact.
…when you visit me on Facebook or Instagram
I do lots of connecting, marketing, and general scallywaggery on social media. I love/hate it there, like I’m guessing you do, too. When you click over to social media from my website, the social media site of your choosing may collect data about you (kind of like it does every time you connect on social media). The same goes for any third-party link that you click to from my website: I can only stay in my own lane, and can’t guarantee or be held responsible for what they choose to do with any information you provide, explicitly or implicitly (via cookies or trackers)
…generally

Should your information be accessed by a third-party through my site without my knowledge or permission, I cannot be held accountable.
